About Me

Hi, I'm Maria Sofia. I'm proud mama of infant Truck and preschooler Bean, partner to a brilliant and funny guy, keeper of the house and home, and blogger by night (and by naptime, if the planets align). My past life was in the corporate world, but now I enjoy some freedom to explore the spaciousness of life and other loves. I love connections, patterns, and interrelationships; I find inspiration in many places; and I see meaning underlying everything. I muse away here on a semi-regular basis. Glad you're here!

About This Blog

Spring Cleaning Inside and Out is about being real with yourself, freeing yourself to live in the present, creating spaciousness in your home, your self, your life.

On Being Organized

I am not an "utterly organized" person, but a "thoughtfully organized" person. I believe organization is what makes you and yours functional and at ease in a space, and the solutions employed will be very different from space to space, due to culture, personality, and purpose.

On Clearing Clutter

My investigation of clutter comes from a willingness to air my dirty laundry and get really real with what is in my closets - literally and figuratively - as a way to empower and create positive change. We can be very functional and organized people and still have areas where clutter develops.

In my opinion, clutter doesn't have to be a mess to be a problem.
  • Clutter is anything neglected and dragging us down in some way - representing what we used to be, what we thought we were, what we hope to be.
  • Clutter's energy stands in our way, drags us down, puts roadblocks in our thinking. Clutter is bad feng shui, but that's not superstition, it's real in our bodies and lives.
  • Clutter not understood is clutter that will appear again.

On Feng Shui

I'm curious about the way our home environments affect our lives and how our personalities and current life shapes our home environment. I think astrology and feng shui can work together beautifully to help us understand our lives, and my exploration here is to find what that looks like.

On Astrology and Philosophy of Life

Astrology is a reflection of the influences that make us who we are, but that isn't fate. We have free will and with knowledge and consciousness, we are here to learn, grow, and use our opportunities and challenges for positive change.

Thanks for joining me for the journey! I hope you find inspiration here.
